TBMW Trackstar Stolen Vehicle Recovery Systems.

Should the unthinkable happen and your BMW disappear, BMW Trackstar* can improve your chances of locating it.


How does BMW Trackstar operate?

1. Once confirmed that your vehicle has been moved illegally anywhere in the UK or Europe*, a signal is sent, from the vehicle, to the Control Centre. New signals are sent every 20 seconds.

2. The in-vehicle unit provides the vehicle's exact location, speed and direction using GPS positioning. This technology does not rely on the stolen vehicle being near to an appropriately equipped police car, and therefore means tracking can commence quickly and effectively even if a police car is not immediately available.

3. The Control Centre, is manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and will immediately contact the Police in the area where the vehicle is located. And because the Control Centre will be receiving updated information every 20 seconds, the Police will be constantly updated on the vehicle's position.

4. Once the Police have secured the vehicle it will be returned to you.

Trackstar also provides full battery back-up, which ensures that your vehicle is protected in the event of the battery being disconnected. the system automatically arms when the ignition is switched off. This means if your vehicle is moved illegally, your in-vehicle unit will immediately alert the Control Centre and provide the exact location of the vehicle.

With BMW Trackstar, there is a choice of two systems available, both of which attract a 3-year BMW Warranty, will cover your vehicle in Europe* and are insurance approved security products, so you may be entitled to an insurance discount.

BMW Trackstar**
BMW Trackstar is a small covert electronic device installed in your vehicle which utilises state of the art technology such as GPS (Global Positioning Satellite), GSM (Global Systems for Mobile Communications) and an integrated motion detector in order to accurately locate your vehicle should it be stolen.

Therefore, either when you report a theft or the Trackstar Control Room contact you to advise you of a possible illegal movement, the unit is activated and tracking can commence. The BMW Trackstar operator can then contact the relevant Police force immediately, and relay accurate positional information on the stolen vehicle, giving the Police an even greater chance of rapid recovery.

BMW Trackstar attracts full Thatcham Quality Accreditation (TQA).

BMW Trackstar 5**
The BMW Trackstar 5 unit operates in the same way as the BMW Trackstar unit but incorporates the added benefit of a Driver Authentication Device.

If the Driver Authentication Device is present the BMW Trackstar 5 unit can detect that the person driving the vehicle is authorised to do so, therefore in the event of a theft where the thief does not have the Driver Authentication Device, an alert will be generated.

Reports have shown that an increasing trend amongst car thieves in recent years is to steal the vehicle keys, thus without the Driver Authentication Device, the theft will be identified more promptly and lead to an accurate location and ultimately, successful recovery.
